University Overview
Yunnan Normal University also known as YNNU is located at Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, china. It is one of the 100 institutions funded by the National Key Project and is co-funded by the Ministry of Education and Yunnan Provincial Government.
In 1937 during the Anti-Japanese war, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nankai University amalgamated into National Southwest Associated University and moved to Kunming city comprising the School of Arts, School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Business and Law, and Teachers School.
After the final termination of the war, the three universities moved back to the original campus except for the Teachers School and being renamed National Kunming Normal College, which was administered as an independent institution in Kingman. Later in 1984, the university was again renamed and adopted the name of what is now Yunnan Normal University.
At present, YNNU has 24 schools, two independent schools, and over 40 research institutes. 33,000 full-time students, including graduates, postgraduates, and doctoral candidates, are currently enrolled in different degrees and programs.
