Taiyuan Institute of Technology is located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. The university was founded in 1954, formerly known as the North China Fifth Industrial School.
Previously the university was known as a national key technical secondary school established to meet the needs of national defense construction. The university was approved by the Ministry of Education for undergraduate education in 2007 and renamed it Taiyuan Institute of Technology.
There are more than 17,000 full-time students and 937 faculty members. Among them, 226 teachers are with senior professional titles. It offers 40 undergraduate majors in various disciplines. The university covers an area of 405,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 312,000 square meters.
The university has won more than 1,200 awards at or above the provincial level in various competitions. And had provided significant support to national defense. In this long history of 65 years, the university has successfully developed around 90,000 professionals.
